Grand Theft Auto 5 has been around since September 2013, but is still insanely popular thanks to the continued updates to GTA Online. Still, that doesn’t mean fans aren’t eager to find out news of a potential sequel.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 launching later this year the chances of seeing a new Grand Theft Auto any time soon on are slim. Red Dead is launching this year, so there’ll be a big wait until we see another Rockstar game.

GTA 5 is currently the fastest selling title in videogame history, earning a staggering $1 billion in its first 24 hours of release.

Old Deatils About GTA IV

This game has had its release date speculated ever since it was initially announced in the ancient 2012. However, the production began only in 2015, because Rockstar Games was focused more on Red Dead Redemption 2, which turned out to be a massive hit. Now, it is speculated that the GTA 6 release date is finally expected for 2021, but it is still too early to tell and unconfirmed, for this latest info is a leak.


The leak was posted by JackOLantern 1982, on Reddit, and it is an overview of the upcoming title’s features. The source claims it will be set in Brazil, during the ‘70s and the ‘80s. In fact, there are rumors of a split timeline in the game and that the narrative will skip back and forth between different decades. There are also other unconfirmed claims and it is as of yet unknown if this is really a leak or just an intentional speculation, but here it is in full:

GTA 6 development will be handled by Rockstar again
The game’s working title is Project Americas
It will be set in a fictional Rio de Janeiro and Vice City
Some missions will also be set in Liberty City
This won’t be an open-world game
Arcade and realism will be balanced, but the game won’t be as realistic as Red Dead Redemption 2
The only player-controlled character will be a male
It will be set during the ‘70s and the ‘80s
Players will play as Ricardo, who is a newly risen drug lord. You will be a smuggler first and climb the ranks
A huge part of the game will be an enormous prison
The story will be divided into chapters similarly like it was done in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Tarantino movies
Realistic and impactful weather
The traces of time passing will be seen on buildings, areas, vehicles, and other stuff
Inspired by Netflix’s Narcos TV show
The ‘70s and the ‘80s hits soundtrack
Martin Madrazo will also appear in some missions
Building your drug empire will be similar as it is in Vice City, only bigger
Players will only be able to store as many weapons as they can carry on themselves
High value will be placed on your car
Body armor will be fully visible, down to the last detail

Now, the last and most important info leaked is that GTA 6 will be a Next-Gen only game, no PS4 or Xbox One supported. Meaning, it will be built solely for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Project Scarlett, which are set to release within the next year. The precise release date is not anywhere close to being determined and everything in the game so far might be subject to change, so there is little value to the rumors besides that Rockstar is going further than ever.
